Matthew Calvin’s Gift Guide

Matthew Calvin’s Gift Guide

Christmas is in the air and here at Matthew Calvin we’re trying to avoid our usual trick of last minute panic buying. With this in mind, we’ve put together a wish list of our picks for those slightly more prepared gift buying moments.

First up, one of our new finds and the subject of an exciting new Matthew Calvin announcement (watch this space!). We’ve fallen head over heels for the luscious scents of Earl of East candles, so much so that we’re stocking a limited range online after seeing how much you loved them at our pop up shop. If we don’t have your scent of choice you can always head over to their website, where we’re currently eyeing up Jardin De La Lune as our next office treat. You should also check out their workshops, where you get to create your own 6oz scented candle. Sign us up, please!

We know you love our jewellery and we wanted to share another brand to fuel your addiction. Chalk Jewellery offers an incredible range of jewellery in a rainbow of colours, making it deliciously difficult to just choose one piece to perfectly accessorise that Christmas party outfit. We’ve had our breath taken away by architect Malaika’s sculptural genius in the way of everything laser cut and we definitely wouldn’t be complaining if anyone wanted to buy us these Floral Hall Geometric Earrings.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a tipple or two and our drink of choice is Pinkster Gin. We’re a sucker for all things pink and this is no exception; we’ve even fallen for their signature modern bottle (we repurposed the last one we finished in to vase because we couldn’t bear to throw it away). We’re looking forward to trying their new Hedgepig range with our Christmas pudding this year; 50p from the sale of every bottle is given to the British Hedgehog Preservation Society.

For those favouring the non alcoholics we can highly recommend Volcano Coffee and TeaPigs tea. Both brands have captured our hearts (and helped us to wake up in the morning, especially on those gloomy winter Mondays) and just the smell of herbal tea or a hearty coffee filling the office is enough to raise our spirits. A massive plus point – their packaging is super cute.

What would the Christmas period be without a self care day? We recently came across Nini Organics, a London based brand whose aim is to help you care for your skin with ethically sourced organic ingredients. The Matthew Calvin team loves their Natura Miracle Mask. We’re well aware of how life in London takes its toll on your skin, but whenever we use the products we end up looking and feeling refreshed. Alex and Nicole, the owners, are also very vocal about the great work other skincare brands are doing. You can find them (and many other brands) online or in their Wood Green shop, House of Green.

Last (but certainly not least) MAiK is an ethical homeware brand which uses sustainable products in their London designed creations. Designer and owner Cat’s impeccable design skills have resulted in an amazing range of beautiful homeware (which we’re guilty of purchasing in the past as gifts for others and then changing our minds and keeping them). If you’re looking for that last minute stocking filler look no further; MAiK have loads of choice, including their very own range of socks.

And finally… we asked the team what MC pieces are on their wish lists this year! There was a huge range of options, but these four pieces were the most popular…

First up, the Beaded Ring. Great on its own – even better when stacked with the other colour options, too! Launched as part of our Botanical collection in June, the Beaded Ring has been steadily popular since the launch, and is set to become a one of our all-time favourite designs.

Our team are also lusting over our Lariat Hexagon Necklace. A Matthew Calvin newbie, this necklace is the perfect addition to your Christmas day outfits. Designed to look great with both high-neck and low-cut outfits, it hangs beautifully and is available in Silver, Rose Gold and Gold so it can be matched to any outfit.

Another necklace that we’re obsessed with at the moment is the Diamond Circle Necklace – for obvious reasons! Everyone loves a bit of sparkle, especially at Christmas… our Diamond Collection was designed to sit alongside our signature minimalist jewellery in harmony. Made to be worn every day, our Diamonds make a great addition to your jewellery collection.

Lastly, our team chose our brand new Polar Hoops. Chunky enough to make a statement, but light enough to wear all day, every day. The Gold Polar Hoops have been incredibly popular since they launched, with almost every female team member at MC living in them daily!
