The candles we can't stop burning
If the last year has taught us anything, it's the importance of ensuring we each have a calm, serene area to have a bit of 'me-time'. Living, working and socialising from home has taken its toll, and personally, it's the little touches that have really helped get me through. During lockdown 1, I decided it would be a wonderful idea (hint - it wasn't...) to pick up a lockdown hobby; candle making. Not realising quite how much went into making the perfect candle, I decided it was best to leave it to the professionals, but it hasn't halted my adoration of lighting many a candle in the evenings.
Earl of East, London based independent, multi-sensorial, creative brand were launched by founders Niko Dafkos and Paul Firmin. Many of you may have spotted Earl of East candles in one of our East London pop-up shops - their range of fresh, calming scents caught our attention right away.
In 2019, the Matthew Calvin and Earl of East teams collaborated on a bespoke soy-wax candle. No.1 is a combination of jasmine, lily, seaweed and pine. Reminiscent of Spring in Barcelona (where Matthew grew up), a city located between the sea and the mountains. Its fresh, floral but sweet scent turns mellow when burning and creates a relaxing aroma that fills your home without being over-powering.
Hand-poured in the Earl of East London studio, these soy-wax candles will burn for 40 hours, and have been created with bespoke blends of the finest botanical fragrances and essential oils. They are made out of non-GMO eco wax and have self-trimming cotton wicks, ensuring a clean burn and an excellent scent throw.
I hope you love the fresh, calming scent of No.1 as much as I do!
